InfoLinks
InfoLinks are a unique Profitool software engineering functionality that distinguish Profitool from other systems.
InfoLinks are basically a way to create workflows or drill down links or to launch executable routines to perform
your own custom tasks! It is so powerful in its creative use that it becomes hard to describe without using examples.
Example 1 - Payable Invoice
What if you are viewing a list of payable invoice transactions on the screen and you want to actually see an invoice document
associated with a particular invoice data transaction?
Simply click the "InfoLink" icon next to the item in the list and you now have a window of "hyperlink-like" choices.
Click to retrieve the invoice – from either Profitool’s image library or your own corporate document imaging system.
If integrated, Profitool will run the query to connect and retrieve the image from your outside system and present it
within Profitool’s browser without ever having to launch the external document image software!
Your other InfoLink choices might be to click and popup the commitment (purchase order or Subcontract)
data or document associated with the invoice. You may also want to verify if the vendor or commitment is on hold.
You could also have InfoLinks take that invoice data, launch another query using that invoice field information
and populate the data somewhere else (reports, excel, another product). The options are endless...
Example 2 – Workflow Scripting
What if, once you have input 500 employee timesheets, you want to execute a series of reports
and send emails to appropriate staff? OR, what if you want to run a query to generate the payroll period activities in one action?
Profitool can help build any number of javascript-based routines that can not only run Profitool
internal actions but also run activities outside of the application (Excel, Word, etc.).
The capabilities are as wide open as your imagination. Profitool software allows you to define workflows and screens. You no longer have to use someone else’s idea of workflow/screen layouts.
